Background
Richard Melamed is a native Houstonian, a graduate from Bellaire High School, the University of Texas, and South Texas College of Law.
Mr. Melamed has practiced real estate and business law in Texas for 40 years. He has experience representing clients in transactions as well as litigation. He has represented real estate lenders, developers, builders and investors.
As a young lawyer he worked for a major title company and was trained to examine titles and underwrite title risks. He has litigated title issues in courts around the state. He currently holds an escrow officer’s license and serves as General Counsel to an independent title agent in Houston.
He has previously been licensed as a mortgage loan officer and a licensed real estate agent. He has represented and advised brokers and licensees in various legal matters. Mr. Melamed owned and operated a title closing office. He was a member of the Texas Real Estate Commission’s Broker-Lawyer committee from 1995- 2007.
